General Information for Submitting Abstracts

The Council for the Advancement of Nursing Science is now accepting abstracts for podium and poster presentations at the 2025 Abstract Symposium. Abstracts should clearly specify how the work influences or potentially influences health policy. Submitted abstracts should include new, unpublished information that, at the time of submission, has not been presented at any level. If referencing previously published information, please indicate what information is novel.

Authors may submit multiple abstracts, and we ask that you note the topic of each abstract during the submission process. Abstracts for research in progress may be submitted for poster presentation only. Student submissions are encouraged, and abstracts reporting literature reviews, systematic reviews, and/or conceptual frameworks related to the conference theme will be considered.

Important Deadlines

You may edit your abstract through February 28, 2025. After February 28 at 11:59 pm ET, your submission is considered final and will be reviewed based on the content provided.

Submission Fee

There is a one-time, non-refundable fee of $55 per abstract submitted. There is no additional presentation fee if your abstract(s) is accepted. You will also be required to register for the conference in order to present your abstract(s).

Presentation Format

Abstracts will be selected as either podium or poster presentations. Podium presenters will have approximately 12-15 minutes for presentation (may vary depending on session). Final presentation instructions will be sent at the time that decision notifications are sent (mid-April). Posters will be displayed at a scheduled time during the symposium, during which time you will be able to present your poster and engage in discussion and Q&A with attendees.

Your Abstract Should Include the Following Components

  • Title: A brief statement of the nature of the investigation or purpose of the project.

  • Author: Presenting author’s information.

  • Aims: The overall purpose or objective, question, or study hypothesis.

  • Methods: Describe the study or project design and methods (sample, procedures, measures, and/or data analysis). Please note that the study can use qualitative or quantitative methods.

  • Results: Discussion of research findings and products (research in progress should note “research in progress”).

  • Conclusions: Describe the actual or potential impact and findings of the study in the context of health policy and health equity implications (research in progress should note “research in progress”).

The body of the abstract (aims through conclusions sections) is limited to 250 words in total. As part of the online submission process, presenters will be asked to select the content area(s) that best reflect their submission. Authors will also be asked to indicate their presentation preference (podium, poster, or either), however it is not guaranteed.

Review and Selection

The 2025 Abstract Review Committee will determine the final selection of abstracts based on scores and recommendations from peer reviewers.

Timeline

The online abstract submission deadline is February 28, 2025 at 11:59pm ET. The review process will begin in March and decisions are scheduled to be released in April.
